Constructing of any kind is a very detailed process. No matter if you are constructing a car dealership, medical facility, or manufacturing operation there are different steps that must be taken to ensure the safety of employees and the construction workers. The specifications and permits can vary from project to project, but the general order of operations in any type of construction project will remain the same. Below are the different stages of construction:

DESIGN CREATION

The first stage of construction is to create a concept, followed by a final design and blueprints. It is done with the help of an architect to ensure everything is up-to-code and the design will be stable and structurally sound.

OBTAINING THE PERMITS

Once you have the blueprints and construction plan, you need to obtain the building rights and construction permits. This process will continue throughout the construction project, as you have to get different permits at different stages. We have experience in obtaining the proper permits at the correct time helps our construction progress to run smoothly and keep it on time.

CLEARING UP THE LAND

Once obtaining the initial building permits, the construction project will start by clearing and excavating the land. This includes removing any boulders, trees, or other obstacles that are on their way, and then leveling or grading the ground.

FOUNDATION

When the space is cleared and excavated, the foundation can then be poured. Depending on the size of the building and the land’s stability, preparing the subsurface needs to be done prior to the foundation being poured.

FRAMING

Once the foundation is poured and cured, framing begins on the building. This includes installing wood frames or steel beams. This process takes a while and it is important that everything is done correctly at this stage. This essentially sets the groundwork upon which all the other aspects of your building will stand.

ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING

After the building has been framed out, a specialty contractor will come in to complete the rough electrical and plumbing work. This involves installing the pipes and wires. Their job will not be completed at this stage, but this helps to get the rough work in a place so that drywall, ceilings, and insulation work can be started.

INSTALLATION OF ROOF

Once the rough electrical and plumbing work is done, roofers will then come to complete the roof on the building. It needs to be done before any other work inside of the building can be started, as rain and other outdoor elements can damage the work that is taking place in the next stages.

INSTALLATION OF HEATING AND COOLING DUCTS

Once the building has exterior walls and a roof, the heating and cooling work can be addressed. Vents, ducts, and the heating and cooling unit are then installed.

COMPLETING THE INTERIOR

This includes adding the insulation, putting up the drywall, and adding ceilings. An electrician often comes during this time and finishes up adding the outlets and lighting fixtures.

INSTALLING THE FIXTURES

Once the walls are up, all of the necessary fixtures inside the space can be installed. This includes cabinets, toilets, windows, elevators, and doors.

FINISHING UP

The last stage of construction involves the finishing touches on the building. This involves painting the walls, installing flooring, putting countertops in, or adding faucets in the bathrooms. And at this stage, the building process is completed.
